1. Overhead Lights - allows you to move your puzzle away from any glare.
2. Pole Lamps - shines light from one direction only.
3. Table Lamp - ideally adjustable and move-able to assist in specific areas.
4. Light Bulbs - are going to be determined by your personal
vision options.
5. LED puzzle lights: These are specifically designed to fit on top of a jigsaw puzzle and provide even lighting across the entire puzzle surface. They are typically thin and lightweight, making them easy to move and adjust as needed.
6. Magnifying puzzle lights: These lights not only provide illumination but also feature a built-in magnifying lens to make it easier to see and handle smaller puzzle pieces. Examples include the Lighted Magnifier Desk Lamp by OttLite and the Magnifying
LED Lamp by Daylight.
7. Clip-on lights: These lights attach to the edge of a table or desk and can be positioned to shine directly on the puzzle. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the LED Clip-on Lamp by
Daylight and the TaoTronics LED Desk Lamp are
popular options.
If only we could use natural daylight any time of the day and evening.....but even that has its drawbacks like reflection, glare or worse yet, a dark cloudy day. So what are the best lights? Let's beat this up for a minute before we look at some resources. The first issue is where your 'puzzle-station' is. By that, I mean, where
your puzzle is set up. Is it set up by a window?
Is it in a room away from the window? Is it ina windowless room? These will make a difference. Then the second issue is....what direction is your light fixture coming from....is it overhead or behind you or motion-movable?
Also the jigsaw puzzle itself....does it have a huge shine on it or is it anti-glare or somewhere in between? Some jigsaw puzzles even have a shimmer.
Short Suggestions
The three primary types of light bulb colour temperature are:
1. Soft White (2700K – 3000K)
2. Bright White/Cool White (3500K – 4100K)
3. Daylight (5000K – 6500K)
The higher the 'Degrees Kelvin', the whiter the colour temperature. Daylight bulbs are suitable for areas where you need to see intricate details which makes them perfect for jigsaw puzzles. However, the lightbulb itself is not the only factor when it comes to the best jigsaw puzzle lights.
Best Jigsaw Puzzle Lights - Overhead
Of course only you can determine these factors when purchasing the correct light for your puzzle-station. My puzzle-station is not near a window so I use a Hampton Bay, Model # 54644143, Led Linear Ceiling Light - 2x4 feet. ( CLICK HERE for a similar Amazon product.) It produces 3000 lumens of bright white light (4000k CCT). I am not sure what all that means but I do know it provides me with the light I need over my 'puzzle-station'. However, it does not work for taking photos though, due to the glare....I have to move my completed puzzles to another part of the room to do that.
