Archie Jigsaw Puzzles Series
The Archie jigsaw puzzles series by Cobble Hill Puzzle Company. They make an excellent addition to the jigsaw puzzle hobby.
Cobble Hill Puzzle Company Archie Series – Classic Archie 1000 Pieces – 26.625×19.25”
Cobble Hill Puzzle Company Archie Series – The Gang At Pops 1000 Pieces – 26.625×19.25”
Cobble Hill Puzzle Company Archie Series – Archie Covers 500 Pieces – 26.625×19.25”
Cobble Hill Puzzle Company Archie Series – Love Triangle 500 Pieces – 26.625×19.25”
The back of the Cobble Hill Puzzle Company Archie Jigsaw Puzzles box displays all four images. They are bagged securely inside the sturdy box (my photo shows pieces are opened).
All four puzzle measure the same size, 26.625 x 19.25”, even though the puzzles are available in 500 or 1000 pieces.
The pieces are of top quality. The 500 pieces are cut looser than the 1000 pieces. The 500 pieces are like a 'ribbon/grid' cut and the 1000 pieces are cut in the random shape style.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Wild Birds Jigsaw Puzzle, By: Catherine McClung, Pieces: 1000 Poster Included, Size: 26.625" x 19.25" or 67.6 x 48.9cm
The Wild Birds Jigsaw Puzzle is filled with an array of birds, many of which I have heard of and so very few I have actually seen. The Robin was pretty common to see and the Bluebirds along with Cardinals were rare. The Sparrow was another visible one however I do not see the Crow or Raven which are a constant where I have lived.
The border was a little tricky with the shades of brown and random shaped pieces. I started with the most colorful birds first. The text was next and fairly simple - some text on puzzles can be quite daunting so I was pleased this one went well.
After the text was in place I worked all the rest of the birds. That left only the green leaves and the shaded background which consumed most of the time.
Brand: Cobble Hills Puzzle Company, Title: Dog Quotes, Pieces: 1000 Size: 48.9 x 67.6cm or 19.25 x 26.625″
I found this irresistible puzzle at a the Thrift store, hoping there were no missing pieces. I did my usual sorting routine of separating colours and text sizes to laying out all the pieces on foam boards. The boarder was tricky with it's white outline edge. I started with the big text first, then worked the darkest dog colors. Little clusters of dog parts were arranged among the inner puzzle for placement. The fine light text was tricky and I needed magnifying help to place some of it together.
The Quotes are delightful to read, resonating with the dog breed. The overall experience took approximately 7.5 hours and I was really happy there were no missing pieces.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Puppy Love jigsawpuzzle Artist: Giordano Studios Pieces: 350 Family size (large to small), Size: 19.25x 26.625
The border went together by using some of the text and the size of the pieces. The idea of the Family Size puzzles is set so the large pieces are on one side graduating in size to the smaller pieces on the other making it quite convenient for children and others to puzzle together.
I assembled the bottom portion fairly quickly of course being the largest pieces. Getting over half way quickly, Then I slowed down more with the upper portion as it was browns and greens.
So that would be enough interest for the 'adult' or older children to assemble this puzzle with the youngster.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Pink Flowers, By: Barbara Behr, Pieces: 1000, Size: 26.625" x 19.25" or 67.6 x 48.9cm
The border went together fairly well even though it was mainly pinks and whites. I started with all the text on the image so the larger the text, the easier it was. Then I moved onto the most distinctive shades of green backgrounds. So dark green, light green etc. From there, I picked out the most distinctive flowers. I left the inside borders for last. I easily followed the patterns on the inside borders to complete them.
The matte finish is always nice on these puzzles. I was totally delighted with everything about this puzzle. I picked it out for my review as one of 3 Cobble Hill Puzzle Company 2018 New releases.
I highly recommend this jigsaw puzzle but be prepared - it's addictive. So once you start you will just want to keep going until it's completed. I can easily give this one the highest compliment from a puzzler. The perfect puzzle experience!
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Hummingbird Magic Jigsaw Puzzle, Artist: Rosiland Solomon, Pieces: 500, Size: 26.626" x 19.25"
The Hummingbird Magic Jigsaw Puzzle is 500 MEDIUM pieces for easy handling. They are not the huge size and they are not the standard size but definitely the good size for those with sensitive hands. It's fair to say they are twice the size of standard size pieces as the completed assembled puzzle is the same size as a 1000 piece puzzle. Therefore it uses one 20" x 30" foam board.
I did the border quickly and easily then I started in on the birds....the lines acting as dividers in the image were a little on the tricky side but once I established the 3 main ones the other one was easy enough.
Once I finished the birds as best I could I assembled the greens and the flowers. It seems like the pink flowers at the upper left was the most trickiest of areas to complete but not enough to dull the fun of puzzling.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Picket Fence Party , Artist: Jane Maday, Pieces: 275 large size , Size: 24" x 18"
I did not do my usual sorting routine but simply laid out all the pieces onto the foam boards. They are quite colorful enough to pick out the birds and the fence.
The border was completed quickly enough followed by the 4 birds. The purplish flowers are spread out within the puzzle but I could identify the purple with blue flowers and then the purple with white fence behind it. The shaped pieces really helped with the sky/background area.
In the end, after only 2.5 hours, the pieces do fit perfectly smooth together which compliments the extremely colorful and delightful Picket Fence Party jigsaw puzzle and image by Artist Jane Maday. That said, I sure wish I could paint like that too!
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Ceramica jigsaw puzzle, By: H. Hargrove, Pieces: 1000 Poster Included, Size: 26.625" x 19.25" or 67.6 x 48.9cm
The border was a little tricky due to the shaped pieces but once it was assembled I started with the blue sky. Luckily there was not a massive amount of blue sky area and the puzzle piece shapes assisted with issue.
I had sorted all the 'text' pieces that were in the image into one area on the board so they were assembled next and placed into the approximate area in the image. The ceramic plates hanging on the outside of the Ceramica store wall were slow to come together. The green doors, bluish windows and orange borders were done easily enough.
The cobble walkway/road went much easier than I had anticipated and once again the puzzle shapes assisted that area. That left the buildings with the pipes and wires until only the darkest brown areas were left - which turned out to be ok outside of the red/creamy bricks on the walls and the archway.
The matte finish is always nice on these puzzles. Cobble Hill jigsaw puzzles continues to come out with some really awesome images and this is one of their new 2018 productions.
It also comes with the box size poster for those with more than one person doing the puzzle or prefer using a poster.
I highly recommend this jigsaw puzzle for the lovely image by the Artist - H. Hargrove Click on his name to visit his website. The images below speak for themselves. This also appears to be a wonderful tourist area to visit. This image sells for $825.00 if you were to buy it as a wall painting and it's titled LOra Di Pranzo- Lunchtime Click the link to see it. We are extremely lucky to recreate it in a jigsaw puzzle format. A beauty indeed!
Title: Sun Splash Jigsaw Puzzle, Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Artist: Sue Westin, Size: 24×18 inches or 61×45.7cm, Pieces: 500
For a 500 piece, it did get completed in under 4 hours and even though the paint-brush-strokes were not really an issue as in the Black Bear Brook, it was the greens and brown blends that carried the most challenge. The shape of the pieces helped tremendously too.
This jigsaw puzzle is painted by the Artist, Sue Westin and titled Sun Splash. I take it the sun is splashing on the mare horse’s back. I am not sure if the box had got faded through a store window (I had heard that can happen) because there is quite the color difference between the box image colors and the puzzle itself.
Also, this must be one of the older, discontinued images because it is not available on the Cobble Hill Puzzle Company website or Amazon. Also another indication for the age of this puzzle is the non-random cuts of the pieces. I am told all the newer puzzles are only random cuts that are in very odd shapes.
I discovered in my stash a 500 piece Cobble Hill puzzle with horses. This is just what I needed. Since my previous experience with ‘horse’ puzzles have been ‘trying’, I was hoping to change that experience with this one.
After all is said and done, this one was very delightful and I did really enjoy it. All the pieces were there and this was the Thrift Store purchase for $1.00 so yet another additional bonus to the jigsaw puzzle. A happy ending indeed.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Under New Ownership, By: Ken Zylla, Pieces: 1000 Size: 26.625" x 19.25" or 67.6 x 48.9cm
Ken Zylla is another favorite artist of mine. The border went together fairly well even though I could not locate the upper right piece. I did not actually locate it until after my second work-in-progress being grey in color.
I focused on the yellow paint area first, the painter, the signs and 3 main vehicles. They went fairly fast together. The next round was the sky, trees and building onto the cars again.
Once all the object were completed, I was left with only the grey-cracked cement area which proved to be the toughest of about 100 pieces. Overall 11.5 hours to complete.
Take a close look at the image to see the nicely painted details and quality - no brush strokes there!
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company Title: Blue Flowers jigsaw puzzle By: Barbara Behr, Pieces: 1000 Size: 26.625" x 19.25" or 67.6 x 48.9cm
The border went together fairly well even though the tricky areas were with the greens and whites. I started with all the text on the image so the larger the text, the easier it was. Then I moved onto the most distinctive backgrounds. So light green, light blue, black checkers... etc.
From there, I picked out the most distinctive flowers. I left the inside borders for last. I easily followed the patterns on the inside borders to complete them.
Cobble Hill produced a puzzle with the same artist and same concept titled Pink Flowers.
I highly recommend this jigsaw puzzle but be prepared - it's addictive. So once you start you will just want to keep going until it's completed.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Title: Matilda puzzle, Pieces: 500 Poster Included, Size: 19.25" x 26.625"
I did my usual sorting routine for this 500 pieces then merely laid out the pieces on the foam board. Then I used the handy Poster to assemble the pieces. The border went together fairly easy and then I started in the upper left corner, worked my way across the flowers over to the cookbook, then down across the brown table, leaving a gaping hole for Matilda. I saved her for last! The the 500 pieces are in very large format. Makes for good handling with odd shaped pieces for those with tender troubled hands.
Brand: Cobble Hills Puzzle Company, Title: Four Seasons Puzzle Illustration by: Janet Stever, Pieces: 2000 Cobble Hill The Four Seasons Size: 39.25x26.625 or 99.7x67.6cm.
The size of this Four Seasons Puzzle is quite large and takes up 2 standard size foam boards. When laying the pieces out, it takes four
foam boards, so six foam boards in total. That said, once this one is
accomplished, your will be very impressed with the way it looks!
I started with the text letters first as shown in the image below. There were a lot of tricky areas. With so many different clusters of images, I was basically building these clusters within the puzzle board, like the Snowman, acorn and flowers shown on the image on the left side below.
Therefore I had many small sections I continued to build on. I felt I was finally over the hump at about the halfway mark when the big sections started to slide into place. At that point it became mostly smooth sailing to the end.
Brand: Cobble Hills Puzzle Company, Title: Frog Business Puzzle, Artist: Lori Anzalone, Pieces: 1000, Size: 19.25 x 26.625″
First thing - I did not assemble the Frog Business puzzle. It has been put to the test as a first-time user of Cobble Hill Puzzles by my adult daughter and her Man. You should know they are Gen-X and the idea of doing puzzles for all the years I have been doing them, to both of them, puzzles never appealed to them. Also being new to puzzling, they had a puzzle spill and seemed to have lost 1 piece even though we did look for it....maybe it will show up someday.....Newbies.... tsk, tsk
They actually started a different puzzle first and they experienced the same negative process as they did many years ago as teenagers.....the pieces were ribbon-grid-like cut and pieces fit into more than one place....I encouraged them to try a different puzzle. They picked the Frog Business puzzle upon my few suggestions for great colors and random cuts.
They did not really sort the pieces, as sorting pieces (to them and many other puzzlers) is boring. Instead they opted out for picking through the boxes for the colors they were assembling and just laying them out.
They also thought they might work from the bottom to the top but soon abandoned that idea once they seen that eliminating colors was the better direction in this Frog Business puzzle's case.
The great quality and random cut on Cobble Hills Puzzles and is exactly what sold this Gen-X couple to have a renewed look at puzzles. Here's some of the comments I got on their feedback;
It's VERY mindful to do puzzles
This was an enjoyable image to assemble
The random cut pieces made a huge difference for easier assembly
The feel of the matte finish was impressive
It's good to be puzzling rather than watching TV
We enjoy coffee and puzzling to start our day
We will certainly do another one
This is the first 1000 piece puzzle they have assembled since childhood and now it seems they are still willing to puzzle more - truly a good sign here. SO many thanks to Cobble Hills Puzzles for getting my daughter into puzzling as it is hoped that she will continue to share my hobby during her spare time going forward.
ps.....eventually we did find the piece that escaped them which completed the Frog Business puzzle.
Brand: Cobble Hills Puzzle Company,Title: Common Quilt Blocks Artist: Cobble Hills Creations, Pieces: 1000, Size: 48.9 x 67.6cm or 19.25 x 26.625″.
The border went together quite easily. I started with the reds and pink patterns....then as I moved along, I did this one in patches like several mini puzzles. As I completed a square I placed it into position on the board. Eventually all the patches were on the board so I only had the inside frames to complete.
In the top sections there is little text titles for each pattern quilt block. Of course there were many pretty colorful patterns. This puzzle reminds me of my oldest sister who does extremely fine quilting.....I do not have the patience to do such finesse work.
Brand: Cobble Hills Puzzle Company, Title: Cat Library Puzzle By: Cobble Hills Creations/Russell Books, Pieces: 1000, Size: 48.9 x 67.6cm or 19.25 x 26.625″
The pieces turned into piles of dark colors, maybe seven different tones. Fear not though as it is not as bad as it appears....
The Cat Library puzzle has a nice poster. It is clear and gives you many little details to help set up sections of assembled puzzle which will eventually join together. I can only imagine how much fun it was to put this image together AND how long it would have taken - HA!
There are 'clumps' of sections I started with first and as usual, I picked out the most outstanding colors on the books and then did the cats.
As I eventually completed all the cats on the Cat Library puzzle, I lined up all the wood-shelf pieces and matched them up with the books. I found the dark vintage books, mostly in the brownish colors to be the trickiest of all.
Enjoy the following video sharing more details on the assembly process.
Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Teatime Puzzle - Poster inside, By: Mary Lake-Thompson, Pieces: 1000, Size: 26.625" x 19.25"
I did my usual sorting routine; Sorting to locate all the outside border pieces, while placing the pieces into the 'general-color' piles.
Then I carried on with a second round of sorting (similar colors sorted by shades/patterns) while placing the pieces flat out on the poster boards.
The border was fairly doable. I thought it best to start with the least of colors which was quite outstanding and that was little tippets of images and text.
I started with the large TEATIME text and the colored smaller text in and around the board. The striped teacups were outstanding enough and the blue/white teapot. Then I assembled the colored flowers, jar of honey and lemons.
The rest of the pieces (about 200 pieces) were not difficult as there was enough details to easily find the correct areas.

This is such a delightful Spring puzzle which is just around the corner already. The pieces are large enough, known as easy handling pieces so it's easily done in one sitting. The Artist, Jane Maday, has captured these furry little animals with bright colours embedded for attraction. Super fun times!

How pretty is this puzzle for Valenitne's Day? It's a perfect gift with medium size pieces. I started with the border which assembled quickly. I picked out the colored birds and butterflies first then worked the colored laces. Even the Valentine hearts have their own colors so the challenge was not difficult.
I love the non-glare matte linen finish, random cuts and their new reduced size boxes. Special thanks to Cobble Hill Puzzle Company for allowing me to review their puzzles.

Brand: Cobble Hill Puzzle Company, Title: Diary of an Edwardian Lady - Summer Puzzle, Pieces: 1000, Size: 19.25x26.625 or 49x68cm. I sorted out all the pieces that appeared to have an edge and then 'weeded' out the pieces that did not fit the border colours and put them back into the non-edge pile. The border required looking at the edges on the box image. The random shaped pieces were also helpful. Diary of an Edwardian Lady - Summer Puzzle Amazon Link

The border was a tad tricky and I thought this is likely an indication of testy this puzzle could be however the placement of the green colors according to the box was most helpful.
I started with the 2 owls as the baby Owl's eyes were outstanding pieces. I built on that. The brown on the Mama Owl were pretty clear, then I dug out the soft feathery white on the baby bird was pretty distinctive. Of course the yellow fern was a give-away section.
Once I completed the work in progress as shown above I felt the rest of the image was going to be daunting. I just dug in with shades of green...once I got as far as I could go with green, I changed to dark brown, then light beige, then whites, then back to dark green, then beige rocks. I moved along at a steady pace and with the use of the shapes I felt the challenge was not as bad as first anticipated. That said, I have just come off of doing 2 - 2000 piece puzzles so maybe the 1000 piece seemed easier???? LOL!!

First off, you should know that I did a really 'solid' sort when it came to colours and patterns on the pieces. I don't normally start with the cloudy sky, but for some reason it seemed to be the easier place to start because it had that most definitive orange line starting just above the dark hills on the left and right sides. It was a small amount to start with but it got me going. Then I found myself looking at the different shades of the sky and suddenly it seemed like putting a 'rainbow' type areas together. I simply followed the colour shades which led to the darker clouds and lighter centre area. That let to the dark hills and that let to the beasts themselves.
It appears that I was able to assemble this one from top to bottom because of the difference in the treelike and water reflection Next it was the Bison I assembled. The heads were tricky but the areas were small and the colours had blue/grey strokes on them. That followed the gold fur, light brown skin and the 'dusty' area under their bellies.
This is the first time I have assemble artwork by Rosemary Millette that Cobble Hills Puzzle Company sells. I am very pleased to say the Dusty Plains puzzle looked terrific on the table as I am very impressed with artwork which gave me a closeup look at these mammoths!

Easily this was 18 mini puzzles that assembled very quickly. I started with the border which is basically color cooridinated. Then I started with the flowers. I do not know much about flowers but these flowers were quite distintive between each other except for a few of the 'purple/blue' flowers. So that basically left the borders in between the flowers. This one was really easy and perfect for a new puzzler working their way into larger number of pieces puzzles.

Just another fun quilt puzzle image here that's like 17 mini puzzles. I started with the border which was a little tricky, then the red barn was first of course. I pulled out the quilt pattern and the flowers. The sheep were fairly easy but the borders between the images were accumulated until the end.

I really enjoyed assembling this puzzle image. I started with the border, then the 'Back to School' sign and red/yellow apple area. From there, I started using my sorted colors like purple, blue etc and red was the last color. Some puzzlers consider these images to be 'busy' which I agree, however, I also find that many 'items' /details helps me find where certain pieces needed to be placed and it seemed to increase the speed in which I completed it.

Check out the NEW Cobble Hill jigsaw puzzle boxes. This year, they have down-sized them making them more convenient for our puzzling experience AND they have a new BIGGER poster size at 14" x 10".
The new box size is 11.25" x 8.25" x 2". I love it and everything else is the same outside the new size poster.
Take a look at the new puzzles I will be reviewing in the near future too! A HUGE special thanks to Cobble Hill for giving me this opportunity to promotes their jigsaw puzzles.
